Phil is the owner and creator of Connecticut Creative Online Magazine working as Editor-in-Chief. He was born in Levittown, NY and was raised in Suffield, CT for the majority of his life. At a young age art has been a big part of his life from drawing t-shirt designs in the 3rd grade to winning 3 years of art awards in high school. There was no doubt that his career would be in the arts. After high school he stopped drawing for about 4 years and worked at various jobs that gave him no satisfaction. He knew he was missing something and that something was art. In 2002, Phil worked at an art distribution plant and was surrounded by the great masters paintings and that sparked his interest again. At his job he met artist, Mike Tardif and was fascinated with his work and began to learn some skills from Mike such as drawing techniques and composition.
Phil decided to go to school in 2003 at the Art Institute for a degree in Graphic Design. While attending school and working as a freelance designer for 4 years, he landed a good account with an ad agency called Acree Creative in the state of TX. The jobs he worked on were logos, brochures, newsletters, and website design. Phil also worked on projects for Solters and Digney Public Relations located in Hollywood, CA. Dan Acree, the owner of Acree Creative liked his work so much, he decided to fly Phil to TX to begin a new magazine called Texoma Living. Phil decided to move to TX for 8 months to help launch the magazine. Within that time he worked as the Advertising Art Director and Graphic Designer. Within the summer he decided the TX culture wasn’t for him and missed the east coast and made the decision to move back. Phil moved back and worked once again as a freelancer. In 2008, the bad economy was hurting his business and had made a decision to work for a local print shop as a graphic designer and film stripper. The economy just got worse and he forced to be laid off from his job.
During a few months of being laid off he thought ways he can use his magazine and web design skills for something he had a passion for and that passion was in the arts. In the summer of July, 2009 he launched Connecticut Creative Online Magazine, which is an art and culture magazine of anyone in CT that has a form of creative skills. This ranged from art, music, photography, film making, sculpture, and any form of creative expression.
Phil’s interests: Drawing, painting, and playing bass guitar.
